Irish Projects:
Zest4Kidz is thrilled to be partnering with DCM in a number of ways through 2009 and 2010.
Our relationship started with bringing a team of young leaders to work in Belarus putting on a wonderful project of love and hope giving Orphan kids a winderful summer camp. It also gave opportunity for the team of 14 young volunteers a real opportunity to grow as indicuals and expand their leadership skills working with young poeple. The trip was an emmense success and we were keen to continue our relationship once home.
Now Zest4Kidz and DCM are keen to continue our junior leadership programme by working together on projects in ireland. The first is a very exciting one where a team of young leaders will work with Zest4Kidz leader Magi WIlson and a further team of experts to create new possabilities within the DCM building. A wonderful listed building reaching out to the community, but in need of some repair and decoration. The junior leaders will take on a room by room approach to enhance this amazing building and to maximise its potential in reaching out to the surrounding community.

to see how you can assist in " bringing light into little lives" around the city in Dublin.
Dublin Christian Mission Youth and Community Work for the Markets Area, Ballyfermot and Crumlin/Drimnagh operate out of their building in Chancery Place, Dublin 7. Each week 250-350 young people, ages 4-18, attend one of the eight Christian clubs and/or three days of Just ASK (After School Klub) that run from October – June each year. Many of these young people would be considered at-risk. Here they learn about saving hope, enjoy their favourite activities (computers, wii, sports, arts & crafts) and often enjoy a hot meal.
In the summer the building is transformed into the Summer Project hot spot for the whole community as well as a home for the many teams and volunteers that help on camps, which are run simultaneously on a field in Wicklow.
This 100 year old building has become a second home for many young people and a “listed” building to the community as well as officially in the city of Dublin. Due to an open heart, open door ethos of DCM staff many in the community take advantage of this resource for birthday parties, majorette groups, local narcotics anonymous and any other such local events. It has truly become a safe place where kids can be kids, young men and women grow and families find hope.
